Good PR
Amazon has launched on online grocery division to rival the likes of Ocado, which is expected to list on the stock market later this month, as it gears up for floatation.
The Amazon grocery division will offer a wider product range than Ocado, with 22,000 products including big name brands such as Pampers, Ariel Washing Powder and Pedigree and suppliers such as Kraft, Nestle and Procter and Gamble.
Some people are sceptical about the new service, but if it does as well as the site’s DVD and music sales, I think it stands a pretty good chance.
Well done.
Bad PR
It’s (apparently) official: Shrimps are becoming hooked on Prozac that is being flushed into the sea. Researchers from the University of Portsmouth looked at the effect fluoxetine (Prozac) had on the behaviour of shrimps and whilst the ‘happy pills’ lift the mood of humans, they apparently draw Shrimps out of their hiding places under rocks and in seaweed, into harm’s way.
Marine zoologist Alex Ford said: 'Crustaceans are crucial to the food chain and if shrimps' natural behaviour is changed because of anti-depressant levels in the sea this could seriously affect the natural balance of the eco-system.'
Good way for the Uni in Portsmouth to get a few media-mentions, but Prozac hasn’t come up smelling of roses.
